To plant or not to plant, that is the question.

I keep looking at the 20 pots of tulips, I planted in November and placed in the garage, just showing their green tips and thinking maybe it's time to plant them in the garden and face whatever the weather throws at them. However the soil is still very soggy and there is the possibility they could rot and then there are all the other hardy plants that I have started off in pots, aquilegias, lillies, iris. I guess it's time to be brave and let go, maybe I'll start the hardy plants outside for a couple of weeks and plant the tulips out on Sunday.

A Cold Wind Blows

Just had a quick dash around the garden, much to the delight of my little dog Raffy, well it's not often he sees me running but it's absolutely freezing with an east wind blowing. My friend next door has crocus and daffodil shoots appearing but as yet I have none. Although I do have tulips and english bluebells growing in pots waiting for softer ground to plant them out in.

The robins and all the other feathered friends of the garden are looking fat and well fed, that will be from all the Muesli I have been feeding them. Last week I had some cheese left over in the fridge which was stale and not enough to do anything with, so I grated it and put it out in the hope that some wild life would enjoy it. Well I have to report that the magpies gobbled it up so quickly that other birds didn't get a look in.

With the forecast of more snow to come I am getting impatient with the weather, as I am opening my garden for charity with the SGS Yellow Book, along with four other members of the Largs Gardening Club, I need to start working in it. The Sky at Night over Largs

Raffy

Snow on the Home Front

I took these photographs on Christmas Day 2009, the garden and the evening sky looked wonderful and Raffy had fun as well.
